Canal de Panamá

Visited the Panama Canal today, such a serial feeling as I stood on the observation tower looking down upon the ships in the locks. I took the public bus from Casco Viejo, and made it to Miraflores within thirty minutes, all for 35 cents! From there it was a short walk to the canal. I watched a big ship move by through the locks carrying the maximum amount of cargo. This ship that you see in the pictures paid approximately $435,000 CASH in advance. This is a moment to understand the importance of all the rain here in Panama. It rains 8 to 9 months out of the year.

For those of you who don't know:
This was one of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken from 1904 to 1914, 77-kilometer (48 mi) ship canal joining the Atlantic and Pacific ocean.

"The digestive canal represents a tube passing through the entire organism and communicating with the external world, as if it were the external surface of the body, but turned inwards and thus hidden in the organism."
-Ivan Pavlov
